A story that began with the smell of fresh shawarma

The Damas Market story didn't begin in a shop, but in a small kitchen, full of aromas. Since 2008, we have been serving the community of Cluj-Napoca through our shawarma shop Damas Arabic Food, bringing the authentic taste of Arabic cuisine to the plate – tender meat, genuine spices, and carefully preserved recipes. Year after year, we met hundreds of people who asked us the same thing: "Where can I buy this tahini?", "Where can I find hummus like yours?"

These repeated questions showed us one clear thing: the community needed more than a good meal – it needed access to the authentic ingredients behind these recipes. That's how Damas Market came about, almost two years ago, as a natural step after 15 years of experience in Arabic and oriental cuisine.

Who we are

Damas Market is the store in Cluj-Napoca (physical and online) dedicated to authentic Arabic and oriental food products. From creamy tahini and pistachio halva to pomegranate molasses, chickpeas, olives, and traditional sweets, we carefully select each product to bring the real taste of the Middle East to our shelves – not adapted or simplified versions, but exactly what you find in traditional kitchens in the Levant and the Arab world.

What guides us

Authenticity. We choose brands and producers with tradition, who respect original recipes and classic preparation methods. We make no compromises when it comes to taste and quality.

Passion for tradition. Every product we sell has a story – just like the articles on our blog, where we talk about the history of tabbouleh, hummus, or baklava. We like to share not just products, but also the culture behind them.

Community. We serve both the Arab and oriental community in Romania, who find the tastes of home with us, Romanians curious to discover oriental cuisine, and restaurants or HoReCa businesses that need authentic ingredients in quantities suitable for their activity.
